Whatcha Menya there’s no Soup?

TL;DR —

We stumbled upon this place on accident with the original intention of going to the poke spot next door. Happiest and most delicious accident we’ve had. Their soup-less ramen has the depth and flavor of a bowl of tsukemen, but without the hot soup. Perfect for if you’re craving ramen but it’s a scorching LA summer day.

The Original Nagoya Mazesoba

We knew we had to start with the original since it was our first time here. This is definitely the move as it is what they are most well known for. Their soupless “dry” ramen aka mazesoba is coated with their super dank housemade sauce and topped with fish powder, spicy minced pork, green onions, chives, seaweed, garlic, and a poached egg yolk. The amount of explosive flavor in this bowl with have you scraping up every last bit left. There is so much depth in flavor and it kind of reminded us of the level of flavor & funk you get with a bowl of tsukemen, but in dry form. Definitely order the original with spicy since this is how the serve it in Japan and add a little bit of table vinegar to balance out the rich saltiness of the sauce.

Deluxe Nagoya Mazesoba

The deluxe version of the mazesoba is basically the same as the original, but it includes chashu, ajitama, and nori. Basically a loaded version of the original and just as delicious.

Phase 2 of the Meal

One thing that is really cool and unique about the mazesoba served here is you get a part 2 to your meal. After devouring your noodles, you have a bit of sauce left over in your bowl, so you have the option of getting a free small scoop of rice to mix with your sauce so that you can literally enjoy every last bit of goodness. Super delicious and if you’re too full, you can mix it and save it as a snack for later like we did.
