Your Mamita is Calling

TL;DR —

Mamita is an unassuming Peruvian spot located in Glendale that serves delicious food that feels and tastes like a homecooked meal. Every dish we’ve gotten from here has been packed with flavor. If you’re looking for a new Peruvian spot to try, this may quickly become your go-to. Way better than Mario’s and you never have to wait for a table.

Pan with Aji Verde

To start, you always get a basket of bread served with their special house aji verde. This is probably one of our favorite “free bread baskets” in the entire universe. The pan is light and crispy on the top but soft and doughy on the inside and it’s the most interesting, but delicious texture. Their aji verde is also out of this world; always super fresh with the perfect amount of heat.

Pescado Saltado

The pescado saltado is a must-try here. It consists of strips of fish stir fried with fries, onion, tomato, and a delectable sauce served with a side of white rice. This is the kind of sauce that makes you want to slurp up every last bit even when there’s nothing left on the plate.

Camarón A Lo Mamitas

A general rule we live by is that if a menu has the restaurant’s name in a dish, then we have to try it. That’s what inspired us to try the Camarón A Lo Mamitas and boy did it slap. This is saucier than the pescado saltado and slightly different in flavor, but this sauce is also one where you just want to sip every last droplet. This dish has shrimp, bell pepper and tomato all sauced in a tomato-based sauce served with a side of white rice. This would be a great dish to share family style.
