Grá-teful for this Cozy Spot

TL;DR —

This is a great pizza spot for a casual meal, some nice wine and good music. All their pizza dough is organic sourdough and they have a super nice natural wine selection. The space is very cute and airy and filled with lots of plants! When we were there, there was someone spinning great vinyl which added to the laidback & chill vibe of the space.

Ferments Plate

If there’s one thing Grá is passionate about and does great, it’s fermentation. So, we knew we had to start with a fermented appetizer! This starter came with pickled daikon, cucumbers, and kimchi. This is absolutely not a Korean joint, but their kimchi was randomly SO good. The flavor was great and it was perfectly sour, salty, and spicy. The daikon and cucumber were also good, but the kimchi really surprised us and was definitely the star of the plate.

Puttanesca Pizza

We are both fans of puttanesca pasta so when we saw they had a puttanesca flavored pizza, we had to try! And it did not disappoint. This za had tomato sauce, tomatoes, oregano, capers, garlic, calabrian chilies and respectably sized chunks of anchovies as toppings and the combination of all these ingredients were soo good. The dough is also delicious and is most definitely the thing that makes Grá stand apart from your average pizza joint. The dough is light and airy and has a slight sourdough flavor to it. Their pizza sat lighter than pizza typically does which meant more slices could be consumed (big plus)!

The Banger Pizza

When something is named “The Banger” on a menu and it’s your first time trying a new restaurant, you kinda gotta try it. The toppings on this one were really interesting and unique: tomato sauce, mozzarella, salami, ‘nduja, fermented mustard seeds, honey, and basil. Definitely an interesting combination of flavors with the sweet honey, sour mustard seeds, fresh herbs, and spicy sausage. This one was great, but we enjoyed the puttanesca a bit more.

Peaches & Cream

We surpisingly had room for not one but two desserts after eating two whole pizzas between the two of us. There’s something so light about the pizzas at Grá, and at the end of the meal, we were both kind of like, “wait… shouldn’t we be way too full for dessert??” So, we ordered the only two items on their dessert menu, one of which was their Peaches & Cream. This dessert wasn’t anything special and we probably wouldn’t get it again, but was still good! It had vanilla ice cream, fresh peaches, whipped cream, olive oil, and black pepper in it.

Chocolate Mousse

The other dessert item they serve is a chocolate mousse. This one was good if you like the chocolate/citrus combo. The chocolate mousse was topped with pistachios, candied orange peel, salt, and olive oil. Also good, but probably not good enough to order again.
