Eatin’ Good & Feelin’ Good About It

TL;DR —

This is one of the best neighborhood spots in Alhambra for a really delicious Asian fusion meal that leaves you feeling great both physically and mentally knowing Yang’s Kitchen prides itself on some very important core values: local and sustainably sourced ingredients (right from the Alhambra farmer’s market next door!), living wages for employees, and reducing their environmental footprint whever they can. Every dish we’ve gotten here has been a hit with no misses. You can really taste the love and pride they have for the food they serve with very bite.

Cornmeal Mochi Pancake with Seasonal Fruit

This mochi pancake is such a banger. The toppings have been different every time we’ve ordered it which is always a pleasant surprise and it’s been delicious every time. The photo below was from fall of last year so the pancake was served with pears, a cozy cinnamon/brown sugar syrup, and whipped cream. The pancakes themselves are so fluffy and deliciously chewy with a mochi-like texture but not as heavy as regular pancakes. These are a must-try for any time of the day really!

Yang’s Set Meal

The set meals are Yang’s are so freakin’ good. They’re served with a variety of proteins (all of which are good!), but we tend to stick to our favorite of them all: the dry-aged steelhead with yuzu miso. The amount of flavor imparted on this perfectly cooked piece of steelhead is crazy. The fish is served with a side of multigrain rice, steamed vegetables, homemade miso soup, some pickled vegetables, and a soft boiled egg. The beauty of this dish is not in particularly complex or unique ingredients or flavors; it’s the care and respect that is taken in the preparation of each simple ingredient. All of the flavors are so clean and delicate and they all come together so well. It’s really one of those meals where you just savor every bite. Even something as simple as steamed broccoli is particularly delicious here.
